An older model of the iPod Touch
In a media event today, Apple announced several new updates and gadgets. One which interests DelectablyChic! the most is the new iPod Touch. Becoming more and more like the iPhone, the new model not only operates under the new system, iOS 4.1 (available next week), but also includes both a still and video camera (HD 720p). iPhone 4′s FaceTime can also be installed. Unlike the iPhone, there is no GPS. Now that the iPod Touch is pretty much like an iPhone, will it mean that the name, iPhone will go away? After all, the iPad comes in both Wi-Fi and 3G. The new iPod touch will be available next week, ranging between $249 and $429 in Canada, depending on the size.
Other new Apple products or updates include a new Shuffle (with 2G of storage), Ping, a music social network that is integrated with the latest version of iTunes as well as movie and television show rentals (not sure how this will work in Canada yet). The iPod Classic, however, will not be updated. Also, updated operating systems (iOS 4.2, coming in November) will allow for wireless printing and multi-tasking from the iPad. This new operating system will be available in November.
