Art of Fashion has announced the winners of the 13th annual Design Competition and Designer Boutique “Choreology”. The judges David Dixon, Kendra Francis, Jacinta Mulhem, Natalie Lecomte, Pat McDonagh, Pheinixx Paul and Faith Orfus had a tough decision to make but in the end they chose Albert Yuen as 2011’s Most Promising Designer. Being selected as winner has definitely increased Mr. Yuen’s confidence – created women’s clothing had “always been [his] dream” and he is definitely “excited to get started on [his] next collection with the support of an experienced team.”

The winner of 2011’s Best Exhibit was chosen through votes from over 6,000 attendees. This year’s winner was Rebecca Collins. Upon winning, Ms. Collins remarked, “just being able to be part of Art of Fashion has meant exposure to opportunities that come rarely to fledgling designers like me. All ten finalists were extremely talented…The Canadian fashion industry is a difficult and intimidating one to break into and Art of Fashion is truly buffering the crossover for newcomers.”
Art of Fashion Founder, Michelle Planche is already thinking to next year’s competition. The winning designs will be on the runway at America’s Next Top Model Live in Toronto in May 4th – 6th 2012 at the Metro Toronto Convention Centre.
This year’s competition and Designer Boutique was definitely a success. Coinciding with Nuit Blanche, over 10,000 attendees made the event at The Pantages Hotel a night to remember. Congratulations to all.
