Bed Bath & Beyond Goes Urban at Aura

While Bed Bath & Beyond has been in the Toronto area for a couple of years (I recall hearing about it when I was registering for my wedding), it wasn’t until a couple of weeks ago that a store opened right in the heart of the city.  Located in the College Park area, in the newest condo development, Aura,  this 50,000 square foot location is not exactly a carbon copy of its suburban shops.  With same-day delivery and car-free-friendly wrapping services, not to mention being steps from the subway, this new location is definitely much more geared towards those who live a downtown lifestyle.

The downtown store offers a delivery service

The store is divided into departments, with trained staff to answer any questions that shoppers might have.  Departments include pet accessories, towels and other linens as well as an entire section dedicated to coffee makers (ranging from traditional drip machines to espresso).   There is, of course, a bridal registry as well.  Like most registries, Bed, Bath and Beyond offers easy-to-use online services, allowing couples to modify their registry.  The registry at the College Park store is definitely city-dwelling friendly, offering many pieces that would work well for every day dining as well as a more formal setting.  However, if couples are looking for very traditional, formal pieces, then options are more limited.

The bridal registry. In the GTA, only the downtown and Richmond Hill stores have a “fine tabletop” section

Like its competitors, there’s also a section that changes with the year.  Please note that depending on the season, things can go fast.  For example, most holiday-related decorations were gone within days of its arrival in stores!

The new Bed Bath & Beyond is located on 382 Yonge Street.  They are open Monday to Saturday from 9 AM to 9 PM and from 10 AM to 6 PM on Sunday.  Other stores in the Greater Toronto Area include Richmond Hill and Mississauga.
