Love To Take Pics of What You Eat? Introducing FoodShootr

A new foodie app has landed on iOS.  Toronto-based FoodShootr, launched only on February 11, features not only a built-in camera, but also filters (like Instagram), allows phonographers to snap, edit and share not only delicious pictures they’re dining on at a restaurant, but also home creations and take-out as well.  All photos can be shared via social media like Facebook and Twitter and users can also comment and like images, let people know where you’re dining (via FourSquare) and even make reservations.  Unlike many other food-related photo apps, however, check-ins are not required.  Since the launch, more than 3,000 people have downloaded the app, according to Chief Communication Officer, Melissa Doyle. Melissa also had the following to say about FoodShootr and the founding team members:

…on whether she and the founders (a team of five people) are foodies:

Yes, most definitely. Whether sushi or Szechuan we love to snap shots of our eats. I personally love sugary decadents like cupcakes, but a satisfying salad is my ideal dish.

…restaurant shots versus home cooking:

So far, we have seen a blend of both restaurant dinners and those foodies have created themselves. Many people are taking food shots when they eat out but there is still a vast number of homemade meals.

…favourite FoodShootr filters:

All of the filters have their best uses depending on the food you are eating, or the lighting. The filter I use the most is Vintage because I love to capture all photos of food with a timeless essence. The one that I have seen the most used is Punch, possibly because it brings out the delicious colours of the food.

…whether people know that FoodShootr is Toronto-based:

Yes, people know that it is Toronto founded, mainly via Facebook and Twitter. It has also gained much interest worldwide. We have users from Asia to Europe!

…whether there’ll be Android and BB10 versions:

We’re working on it! Soon, all foodies will be able to curate their food shots on their smartphones!

…where FoodShootr will be in the next year or so:

FoodShootr in the next year, will include a variety of different restaurants and other venues, in which you can check it and share your favourite eats. Also, you will be able to tag the restaurant so that others who are looking for a place to eat on vacation can have a look at food photos, for what they want to order.

FoodShootr can be downloaded via the App Store.  They are also Facebook, Twitter and Vimeo.
