Apple announced a new phone, new iPad and Apple TV earlier this week. I was a bit underwhelmed at the announcement – it wasn’t anything that wasn’t already leaked. I was also a bit disappointed with the iPad Pro. Sure, there’s a keyboard and a stylus (overpriced, I might add), but it would have been nice if it had a duo operating system, with the iPad Pro pretty much replacing the Macbook Air. Besides, didn’t Steve Jobs say no to those things? He must be turning in his grave. Even with a keyboard, I can’t blog with iOS. I need full out OS X. And considering its price, I’m not sure if I’m going to go for it right now. However, it’s interesting to note that the upcoming iOS is iOS 9. And what comes after nine? TEN. This might mean BIG CHANGES for iOS next year. Maybe dual systems for any new iPads (can’t see OS X working on a phone. #justsayin)?
A shot of the Apple Store flagship in Beijing. At the recent event, it was noted that China’s Apple product sales grew significantly in the past year
The new Apple TV does sound interesting, but some of the app demos were, too, underwhelming. I love shopping on Gilt, but one thing I would have thought would be different about the Apple TV app would be more video. The demo looked no different from what I’d get on my phone, iPad or desktop. Considering that it’s a fashion and shopping site, video would be nice. Some department store sites (Saks, for example) already do it. Otherwise, I don’t know if the new version of Apple TV is all that different from what’s available now. Still, it’s something to consider.
The phone, on the other hand, is a definite no for me. While I like the 3D Touch and the improved camera, I only got my phone last year and thus, have another year left on my contract. I’ll wait for the 7 (7Plus, actually, since I have a 6Plus), thank you very much! I’m also unsure about the new rose gold shade. How many people keep their phones naked, anyway? I learned my lesson after I got my iPhone 5 to get a case IMMEDIATELY (I broke my first iPhone on launch day. I was lucky to be able to get a replacement two days later!!!). Except of course, non-S phones often have difficulty finding nice-looking cases at first. And because I have a Plus, it’s STILL hard.
