Boxx Cosmetics Launch at Sweet and Petite

Boxx cosmetics, a new line of cosmetics that allow users to custom build palettes launched at an event at Sweet and Petite Tuesday evening.  The Toronto-based company created by Sandra Milligan features several shades of eyeshadows, blush, lip gloss as well as powder and correcter which can all be customized in one gorgeous compact – great for those on the go who’re looking for a complete set of products all in one spot.  Two compacts are available.  The larger one, measuring 12 cm by 12 cm (approximately 4 3/4″ x 4 3/4″) is $59 and a smaller (complete with folding “doors” that protect the make-up), more portable one (looked to be about 2 3/4″ x 2 3/4″) is $12.  The compacts are reusable so all one needs to is buy the make-up after colours are used up.

The large compact – aka “the box”

Some of the delicious desserts – all in “boxx cosmetics” form!

While this is not an innovative idea – Bobbi Brown has had customizable compacts for years – most tend to only allow for three or four shades or products, and often only pans of a defined shape.  Users of boxx cosmetics can fill their compacts with up to 16 shades, depending on whether it is for face, eyes or lips.  In addition, boxx cosmetics offers only customizable products – no ready-to-use shades here!  There’s also no need to worry about peeling sticky tape off the backs of pans as everything is metallic.  Best of all, the larger case has a protective “door,” which means that one can organize all powder-based shades on one side and glossier ones on the other without spillage. All products are Canadian-made.

At the event, attendees were able to get make-overs using products from boxx cosmetics.  Delicious “boxx-inspired” desserts, such as candies, macarons and cakes.  Compacts and pans are available at the boxx cosmetics boutique in Toronto at 186 Dupont, at Saltridges in Burlington, BeautyMark in Vancouver, and of course, online.
